What can you learn from the collective wisdom of more than 400 MSPs? A lot. Kaseya, a provider of IT systems management software, recently released the results of their fifth annual Global MSP Pricing Survey, and I think the results are pretty telling. That’s why we’re hosting a joint webinar with Kaseya this week to go over the results in depth and how they can help you better position your business.

Discover what true Total Data Protection really is

Posted by Neal Bradbury on Jun 21, 2016 4:42:18 PM

As an MSP, you get it. Bad things happen. Whether it’s a system failure, natural disaster, malware infection, or a good old-fashioned data breach, there are so many ways for businesses to suffer data loss. That’s why you want to offer your customers “Total Data Protection” so you can help them recover their data when one of those bad things happens.

But what about preventing that data loss from happening in the first place? Data protection alone isn’t enough to proactively safeguard your SMB customers from the changing landscape of threats and vulnerabilities targeting businesses of all sizes. Don’t be conned into thinking otherwise.

3 IT channel trends to watch in 2016

Posted by Neal Bradbury on Feb 1, 2016 12:00:00 PM

Now that 2016 is underway, I’ve had a chance to look back at what’s changed in the IT channel over the past 12 months and think about what trends will impact IT service providers in the coming year. Yes, there are some big changes happening, but I think it’s an exciting time to be an MSP as the cloud and other emerging technologies create new opportunities to improve and grow your business.

Common cyber security mistakes your SMB customers are making

Posted by Neal Bradbury on Apr 22, 2015 8:30:00 AM

Bad habits are hard to break, and that’s especially true when it comes to small businesses and cyber security. After all, it’s easy for SMBs to think “that will never happen to me,” and let things slide that end up creating real security concerns.

The truth is data breaches and cyber attacks are  very real possibilities for small businesses. According to the National Small Business Association, 44 percent of small businesses report being the victim of a cyber attack, and the number of data breaches reported each year continues to climb.

4 Things MSPs need to start doing to close the marketing skills gap

Posted by Neal Bradbury on Mar 17, 2015 1:00:00 PM

Managed service providers built their businesses on a strong technical foundation and developed a solid sales team, and that used to be enough. But as the channel gets more crowded and more solutions move to the cloud, MSPs need to learn how to market their businesses effectively too.

Why MSPs need to change their approach to IT security in 2015

Posted by Neal Bradbury on Feb 24, 2015 9:00:00 AM

With massive data breaches making headlines on a regular basis, like the one that recently affected up to 80 million customers of the health insurance giant Anthem, it’s hard to ignore the fact that data security is becoming increasingly important. Unfortunately, there are still far too many SMBs that don’t understand just how serious the threat is.

Earlier this month, we spoke to a number of small business owners to conduct a little primary research, and virtually all of them were seriously under-aware of the threat of ransomware. Their response pretty much boiled down to, “Well, let’s hope that doesn’t happen to me!”

4 New Year’s resolutions MSPs need to make in 2015

Posted by Neal Bradbury on Jan 13, 2015 4:18:00 PM

As a new year gets underway, it’s important for MSPs to stop and reflect on what steps you should take to improve your business in 2015. If you don’t take the time to evaluate your approach and make a plan now, you’ll get caught up in day-to-day operations and miss your chance to make necessary changes.

Here are four adjustments I believe are vital for MSPs to focus on over the next 12 months.

Webinar: How MSPs can help their clients stay HIPAA compliant

Posted by Neal Bradbury on Feb 12, 2014 9:05:00 AM

By Neal Bradbury, Co-Founder and VP of Channel Development

We’ve talked a lot about HIPAA on this blog and at live events, but I still hear a lot from IT solution providers who are confused about their responsibilities under the law. On top of that, there are some MSP partners who aren’t quite sure what steps they need to take to protect their own clients.

I hope to clear up some of that confusion and answer some of your burning HIPAA questions in a Channel Expert Hour webinar tomorrow, February 13, at 2 p.m. ET. Register to join us for “3 Imperatives to Ensure HIPAA Compliance for your Customers.”

I’ll be joined by Chris Johnson of Untangled Solutions, who is an Intronis partner that has really grabbed the HIPAA opportunity by the horns and turned his managed services business into a go-to healthcare IT consulting firm.  You can read more about Chris’s successes in healthcare IT in this Partner Story.

Tackling your HIPAA compliance questions

Posted by Neal Bradbury on Nov 15, 2013 11:10:00 AM

By Neal Bradbury, Co-Founder and VP of Channel Development

Last month I was able to join in on a great discussion with a panel of experts who know their stuff when it comes to HIPAA. Our friends at TMCNet hosted a webinar, “HIPAA. It Doesn’t Need to Be Scary” that focused on the opportunity available to IT managed services providers who sell cloud backup in the healthcare vertical.

We received a number of great questions from the audience during the webinar, and since there was only so much time to answer them all, we wanted to tackle a few post-event. Last week, we answered one of the basics: What is a Business Associate Agreement and what does it cover? This week, I’d like to answer a few more that, for the most part, focused on the responsibility of the MSP to help their clients comply with HIPAA.
